3/1 Art Lesson on 20th April 2011

All about Hamzah

These few weeks, I had been going to the library to do my marking.
Some of our class pupils also go to the library regularly while waiting for their CCA to start.
I had the chance to interact with them more.
Hamzah, the one who self-proclaimed to be "the cute one", is one of them.
^_*
Here are the photographs taken.
Enjoy.

Van Gogh Alive - The Exhibition

I'm so excited to share this piece of good news with you.
Van Gogh Alive - The Exhibition!
Van Gogh is widely recognised as one of history's greatest artists for his use of vivid colours.
I'm over the moon when I first heard of this exhibition coming to Singapore.
In commemoration of Van Gogh's birth date today, the ArtScience Museum at Marina Bay Sands will showcase Van Gogh's masterpieces in an exhibition that will combine the latest in sound and projection technology. This exhibition will include his art works from his most prolific decade from 1880 to 1890.

Enjoy! ^_*

Questions raised in class

I hope you have done research on the questions that were raised in class last week.
The below blog entries are the answers to the questions raised.
^_^

Have fun in your research.
Remember to do a research on Sunflowers and Vincent Van Gogh. ^_*
See you on Monday.

Do frogs have long tongue?

Frogs have interesting anatomy. Frogs have long tongue to capture food. ^_^

How do frogs breathe through skin?

Frogs breathe with their mouths closed. Their throat movements pulls air through the nostrils to the lungs. Then breathe out with body contractions.

Frogs can also breathe through their skin, with tiny blood vessels, capillaries, under the outer skin layers.

What does a tadpole eat?

Tadpoles start out eating their own yolk sacks. Once that's exhausted they are completely vegetarian, eating algae, plants and other microscopic things in the water. Some say it's sufficient to just keep adding fresh pond water to get more microbes in; fresh live pond plants may be suitable too (especially if they come with their own coating of algae).
When their back legs emerge, within a short period of time they turn into complete carnivores. They will indeed eat each other if not enough microbes/insects/other small animals are in the water. Also, they are sometimes kept as pets. In this enviroment, they will eat many things. They will eat lettuce, bread and even scrambled eggs !

Earth Day Mascot

I quite like this idea I saw online.
Shall we try this?

Hungry Alligator

Earth day is coming.
I was browsing the internet for ideas.
How should we dress up our mascot?
Who should we nominate to be our mascot?
Hmm
Then, I came across this hungry alligator.
I know that this is totally unrelated to Earth Day but...
this is too cute!
I must share with you.

OMG!
Hungry alligator as pencilcase!
TOO CUTE!

'Kindness Begins With ME’ Programme

This programme is designed to inspire pupils to be more caring through spontaneous acts of kindness.
Kindness cards would be given to pupils who are spotted displaying kind acts from Term 2 Week 4 to Week 9.
At the end of the term, the class with the most kindness cards would be presented with an award.
Prefects (Yu Xin and Hafizah) have been appointed to collate the cards for our class.
A short briefing would be conducted on Tuesday, 12 Apr 11 before the morning assembly for the appointed pupils.

If you see your brother standing by the road
With a heavy load from the seeds he's sowed
And if you see your sister falling by the way
Just stop and stay you're going the wrong way

You got to try a little kindness
Yes show a little kindness
Just shine your light for everyone to see
And if you try a little kindness
Then you'll overlook the blindness
Of narrow-minded people on the narrow-minded streets

Don't walk around the down and out
Lend a helping hand instead of doubt
And the kindness that you show every day
Will help someone along their way

You got to try a little kindness
Yes show a little kindness
Just shine your light for everyone to see
And if you try a little kindness
Then you'll overlook the blindness
Of narrow-minded people on the narrow-minded streets

You got to try a little kindness
Yes show a little kindness
Just shine your light for everyone to see
And if you try a little kindness
Then you'll overlook the blindness
Of narrow-minded people on the narrow-minded streets

P3 Innovation Programme

Are you excited?
Miss Leong is so excited and looking forward to our P3 Innovation Programme.
Remember that we are having this programme on every Monday and Friday for two weeks.
Mr Hari and I are in-charge of this programme so feel free to approach us if you have any problem.

This is the website if you want to know more details about
this 2011 LEGO Build-the-Change contest.

Oh, look at the drawings of the selected candidates.
They are so creative and I'm in love with their masterpieces.

I must say that Hamzah's futuristic Singapore 2050 is my personal favourite!
Excellent job, Hamzah!

I hope we can go to LEGOLand in Denmark!
Even if we didn't win in the end, at least we had fun building our Singapore 2050 model.
Let's learn and play together!

Cheers,
Miss Leong

I feel loved by this class!

Thank you so much, Yu Xin!
I LOVE it so much!! ^_^

Stephanie Investigates

We have finally completed our IPW!
*Claps*
I hope all of you have enjoyed these three weeks of IPW.
I also hope that it had been an enriching learning journey for all of us.

Now, it's time to embark on our usual big book reading.
This week, we read our new book for this term - Stephanie Investigates!
Stephi is a good detective.
We have a great detective in class too!
Reyes found my missing dustbin after some investigation!
Good job!

After reading the new book, we constructed a concept map on the various characters in the book.

Look at the cute pictures drawn by Kavan and Jing Siong!

They are sooooooo adorable!!!
I love them!

Happy Birthday, Kavan!

Happy Belated Birthday!
Thank you so much for the delicious chocolate cake!
